Hi Lau, apologies for the delay. I really am a slacker.

a) Brisbanes worse storm in 25+ years hit us a couple of weeks ago, plus with the oldies here, a new kitchen to install, aircons to fit and sites to finish.... coupled with some twat hacking us... Ive been a tad preoccupied.

So sincerest apologies.

to answer your questions.

YoBroMoFo was started, purely as a meeting place for expats who had expatted... and are within Australia. With the added bonus of soon to be expats able to join in.
The objective of the site, was to be lenient and give people a fair go. To allow them to let their hair down, and talk about stuff that isnt always related to migration, or will my Wii work upside down etc.
It was never to compete with the bigger expat sites, but we knew if we could get people interested in our "blend" then a smaller number of quality members was more proportionate to success, than drivelling off a membership of 100,000 people who never post.
The concept of a forum to me, is quite simple. It must feel relaxed and welcoming, and by definition we all "have a say"
You cant "have a say" if people keep reprimanding you, or editing your post, surely that isnt a forum then but a one sided, "hear what we wanna hear site"

Obviously we had issues with Big Brother taking the huff when we started, but we stuck to our guns, and created something that isnt being done anywhere else.

Okies we have had teething problems, but then everyone was always aware, the site evolved based on members preferences.

So for that reason we are going from strength to strength, and welcome members from anywhere and everywhere.

To answer question 8.

We dont actively preclude anyone, and I hate bullying... so we try not to be "cliquey" but inherantly that is always gonna be a concern to those who dont participate, its a fine line .. but we seriously try to make everyone feel confortable, protected and welcome.. and loved

Regarding other business.

We have developed VisaTimeLine > British Expats - Visa Time Lines

I hope this becomes popular as a sister site to YoBroMoFo, because its power is in its usage.

I am actually at home in Melbourne today and all weekend

I have come home to a spotlessly clean house (thanks to D and kids)

He is off to Sydney with work today - passing ships and all that so I will pull everything together and send over to you this weekend....
