Re: What to do with Lemons???

Typed this is google for you:

    Lemons - Middelmost

What to do with...LEMONS | Fig & Cherry

Thought this sounded nice - but I like lemons

1-2lbs chicken (depends on the size pan you have, has to be covered, at min, a large frying pan, better, a larger "everything pan"
    4-8 lemons
artichokes or a hardy vegetable to taste
    salt and pepper

Brown chicken in a little oil and butter in the pan, in batches if needed, sprinkle with salt and pepper while cooking. Just brown, do not cook.
After chicken has been browned, put all the chicken on the bottom of the pan, then layer on a layer of lemons that have been sliced thin, skin on, cover completely. Cover that layer with artichokes (plain canned are best) and then another layer of lemon. Cover and lower heat to low. Let cook for around 45 minutes until chicken is tender.

Serve over rice or noodles. The chicken will fall apart. We prefer thighs but you can use any cut. I have also done this with large chunks of fresh zuchinni and I know people have added frozen mixed veggies - whatever you use, has to be able to be cooked for a long time.

Re: What to do with Lemons???

Think you can clean with them too - more enviromentally friendy and free!

    Here you go;

    Household uses for lemons

Household uses for lemons go beyond utilizing them for preparing foods. Lemons provide antibacterial and antiseptic qualities that make them ideal for cleaning purposes. Lemons are a refreshing fruit that naturally clean some of the toughest messes. The list below shows the many uses of cleaning with lemons.
Lemon juice can be added to a wash cycle for fresh smelling laundry and to brighten whites without using harsh bleaches. Also clean ink and other stains from clothing by applying directly to spots.

Pieces of lemon can be ground through the garbage disposal to get rid of nasty odors and freshen the drain.

Rub a lemon onto wooden cutting boards to clean and deodorize onion and garlic smells and disinfect any bacteria that may be living on the wood. Also use on wooden cutlery and bowls.

Clean copper, tarnished brass and stainless steel by making a paste from lemons and salt. Rinse and dry immediately for a spot free effect.

Add half a lemon to the dishwasher load for sparkling spot-free clean smelling dishes.

Use lemons to clean sink faucets and remove lime scale build-up.

Create a wonderful natural air freshener by mixing lemon juice and water in a spray bottle. Also, just placing a half a lemon in a dish can help freshen a room.

Make your own all-purpose cleaning solution. Combine lemon juice, vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

Lemon juice can disolve soap scum and hard water deposits.

Use as a natural furniture polish, combine 1 part lemon juice with 2 parts olive oil.

Boil lemon juice in the microwave for easier clean-up. Better yet- Get rid of your microwave!

Then we thought maybe lemon wine - but I can't find a good recipe that doesn't take a year or so!

What can I do with all my hundreds of lemons (bear in mind - I HATE LEMONS!! )

    Anyone want some?
Chop them up and serve them with ice cold gin & tonic.

I have a HUGE bag full of them still Good tip about the cleaning thing - may do that (if they don't all go bad whilst I actually get around to doing some ). I like the freeze them idea too - although I still don't like lemons so will just use them for guests

I only picked them all because I caught the neighbour standing on the fencing pinching them!! :wtf: cheeky cow she is :girlfight:

    1. sell them to friends as an ideal solution to clean microwaves that smell of fish.
    2. go round to ppls homes you hate, and leave a cut leomn on their granite benchtop.
    3. connect them into a 14x14 grid and have back up power in blackouts
