I thought your child could go to any school they wished to regardless of where they lived unless you lived in an Estate such as North Lakes at Mango Hill where you need to be a resident of the estate for your children to go - though I could be wrong about that. Granted my girls go to a private school but they have school mates that travel a fair distance to attend and I know of other schools such as the state school here where students live quite a distance away and there are other schools they could attend which are closer to their homes.

The High School where my eldest attends doesn't have the zoned areas, and kids travel in on buses. I did want him to go to Helensvale High, we went in to enrol and were given a catchment area map, and we weren't in it!
The first primary my youngest first went to did, and the one he attends now do. I was told on Friday his present school is turning away kids all the time as they are 'outside the catchment area.'
