4x4 Off Road Virgin

Hi Guys,

Just bought a Landcruiser Prado and will pick it up on Wednesday in preparation for our Camping Trip. As I've never driven one of these wagons off road before I was wondering if there were any kind, generous people with Off Road experience, willing to spare a few hours someday/evening/weekend to show the basics so I don't get us into too much trouble when we get the chance to go off road.

I'm not taking going up the side of a mountain here, just some basic beach/dune/gentle (ish) off road basics to get me started.

There'd be a six pack in it for them

Congrats on the jeep mate........enjoy.

The sand / beach will probably give ya more bother than the side of a mountain mate

You'll be fine mate.......stay out of the soft stuff as much as possible, keep her in 'low box', take it slow, and you should be ok...just remember to stop before engaging 4wd......oh......and keep a wee shovel handy........incase you gotta dig yer way out!

Sounds like good advice Mark . Going to pick up the wagon today. It'll have been serviced, had an independent garage give it a thorough inspection and dual battery system installed so as long as the report comes back with no issues she'll be good to go.

Been round 3 seperate camping stores yesterday with a list of camping gear (Rangers, Rays Camping and BCF). The cheapest was Rays in Cannington and the dearest was BCF.

Theres a few cracking Ex-Army Surplus stores in Brizzy.

Ideal for getting PROPPA camping stuff, flasks, etc etc etc

Thanks for the tip mate. Unfortunately we are starting out in Perth, but we have searched around a few camping stores (with BCF being the most expensive). We eventually went with a smaller, owner run store that could offer the best discount.
