I agree with Weez, The time Travellers Wife was really good - Weez, you need to join the libarary at Tea Tree Plaza or your gonna spend a fortune! It's opposite the shopping centre at the top end of the park.
Personally cannot stand 'girly' books - they absolutely leave me cold. Personal fave writer is Minette Walters, grim but brilliant! If anyone liked The Da Vinci Code (film was sh**, book was great), then I would recommend The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne or Labyrinth by Kate Mosse - excellent reads, but you gotta concentrate. The Lovely Bones made me cry, as did 'A Quite Belief in Angels' (R J Ellory I think?) God I miss Richard & Judy's book club - used to get some great ideas for books I wouldn't normally think of picking up - so for me, great thread!

I loved the series (forgot the name, books were called 'Voyager' and 'Dragonfly in Amber' etc) by Diana Gabaldon about the hot time-travelling couple. Was highly suspicious when I got the first book as a birthday present, very tacky cover, and then got hooked and bought the next few. Still haven't read all of them, but will do soon.
Also am a huge Harry Potter Fan. Got this year for my birthday the first book of the Twilight Saga and couldn't put it down, but I found the main character a wee bit annoying and when trying to have a peek on Amazon to see what happens in the next book I read that she's only getting more annoying so haven't bought anymore books yet. For holidays or days in between when I know I can just read the book in one sitting I like Harlan Coben and similar written books. I read more or less anything, although I usually struggle with girly books (keep trying, but hardly ever like one). The last four books I read and really liked were: 'East of the Sun' by Julia Gregson 'Imperial Life in the Emerald City' by Rajiv Chandrasekaran 'The Pirate's Daughter' by Margaret Cezair-Thompson and two books by Rebecca Ryman I read in German, but if I found it right on Amazon their english titles are 'Olivia and Jai' and 'The Veil of Illusion' Another german Author I love is Tanja Kinkel, she writes historical novels which always are great stories and full of historical details/facts. She's great. great thread by the way! Will check out the books you all mentioned on here! |
